There has been some talk recently about the Wal Mart Price Match and Coupon Policies. The hub-bub seems to be what Wal Mart will really price match and if you would be able to use a coupon on that item.
Yesterday, during a shopping trip with my daughter, we used the Price Match and Coupon Policies to our advantage on two particular products.
Purex, 33 load/50 oz package is on sale this week at my local Rite Aid for $1.97 each.
Wal Mart's every day "low price" on Purex 33 load/50 oz is $2.97
Angel Soft 12 Double Roll Toilet Paper is on sale this week at my local Kroger for $4.99
Wal Mart's every day "low price" on AS 12 Dbl Rolls is $5.97
We purchased 20 bottles of Purex-50oz in assorted "flavors"
and
2-12 double rolls of AS Toilet paper.
The cashier was happy to price match both items to their competitor's store.
So BEFORE coupons, We saved $20 on the Purex
and $1.96 on the toilet paper ($0.98 per package). A total of $21.96 in savings.
On TOP of that, we used 20-$1/off one Purex 50oz or more for an additional $20 in savings
and
2-$1/off one Angel Soft Toilet Paper 12 double rolls or more for an additional $2 in savings.
A total of $22.00 in savings
With the Price Match and Coupon use we saved $43.96 on our purchase.
$0.97 per Purex is my rock bottom/stock up price!
And $3.99 for a 12 double roll Angel Soft is a fair price as well.
Why did Wal Mart allow me to price match?
Their policy specifically states:
"We’re committed to providing low prices every day. On everything. So if you find a lower advertised price on an identical product, tell us and we’ll match it. Right at the register."
They say you don't have to run all over town to get the best price on products. They also say that you don't have to have the competitor's ad with you when your shopping.
We, however, do bring ours, just to be sure we are price matching the right store and price. Plus, we find that if the manager isn't aware of a certain store's sale, it's nice to be able to pull out the ad so that they don't have to call the other store, or try to verify that price in another manner. It helps to help the cashier sometimes :)
You can read all about their Price Match Policy: HERE
Their coupon policy found: HERE is one that we find to be very coupon consumer friendly.
One thing of note for those coupon savvy shoppers who like to use multiple coupons in one transaction. The Wal Mart Coupon Policy states:
The system will prompt for supervisor verification for:
- 40 coupons per transaction.
- A coupon of $20 or greater on one item
- $50 or more in coupons in one transaction
We love Wal Mart for their liberal Price Match and Coupon Policy. Use it to your advantage when it makes sense and not only will you save on gas because you don't have to run from store to store, but you can also save a ton of money! Our trip using the Price Match and Coupon Policies was a success!
Until Next Time:
